ISPOR International 2023

In May, Costello Medical were delighted to send a team of 12 colleagues to attend ISPOR International 2023 in our US office’s backyard of Boston, Massachusetts. The conference consisted of a full programme of live in-person sessions, with the option for a digital conference pass which allowed for online access. We thoroughly enjoyed the conference and were delighted to be able to contribute to the programme of ISPOR sessions via the following:

  • An Issue Panel entitled ‘Disinvestment in Healthcare Systems: The Why, What, When and How’, moderated by our UK Head of Health Economics and Statistics, Naomi van Hest1
  • A Podium Presentation given by Connor Davies entitled ‘A Case Study Using KEYNOTE-024 to Examine the Impact of Cut-Point Selection on Long-Term Survival Estimates from Piecewise Modelling’ 2
  • Five posters presenting research across a variety of topics in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR)3-7

The tagline of this year’s conference was ‘Impacting Innovation, Value, and Healthcare Decision Making’, with multiple plenary and breakout sessions focusing on the avenues through which HEOR can (and does) assist in healthcare decision making, and the role of innovative artificial intelligence technologies in healthcare. Discussions around real world evidence (RWE) also featured heavily at this year’s conference, highlighted by the 2023 ISPOR RWE Summit which we were pleased to have two colleagues attend. Importantly, the conference sessions retained a patient-centric viewpoint when discussing today’s rapidly changing healthcare ecosystem.
