2016
Between my second and third year of university, I completed a 3-month Analyst/Medical Writer Internship at Costello Medical in the Cambridge office. This allowed me to experience the friendly atmosphere of the team and learn about the types of projects we offer to our clients.
2017
After graduating, I then joined Costello Medical as an Analyst in the London office. I joined the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) division, primarily working on developing HTA submissions to the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE). However, I was also able to work cross-divisionally with the Literature Reviews and Synthesis and Medical Affairs divisions, which allowed me to work with a range of colleagues and widen my skills base, which I hugely enjoyed.
2019
Promoted to Senior Analyst in April. This role saw me taking on an increase in client responsibilities, project management and business development.
I was also able to mentor an Intern, by taking on line management responsibilities for the first time.
2020
Promoted to Consultant in October, in a role which saw me working cross-divisionally between HTA and MedTech. This allowed me to continue to explore a wide range of project types and kept each day hugely varied!
In addition to my increased project responsibilities, I also began to line manage four junior colleagues and started to support with the strategy and future direction of both divisions.
After my experience as an Analyst/Medical Writer Intern, I was eager to be involved in the process and support future interns who join Costello Medical. I therefore took on the role of Internship Director. This new responsibility involved me overseeing the internship programme alongside the other directors, evaluating the training we offer, as well as supporting those line managing interns for the first time as a secondary mentor.
2022
The opportunity arose to begin focussing on growing our Market Access and Health Economics team in Boston, MA, after we expanded to the US in early 2020. After working with the team remotely from London, and visiting Boston on a few work trips, in October 2022 I officially relocated. This adventure to the US provided an amazing opportunity to live in a new country, and work with and get to know my new team in person.
Shortly after, I was promoted to Senior Consultant – US Market Access and Health Economics Lead. This new title reflected my new focus on building a team in the US, as I became responsible for winning new work, building client relationships, and creating a collaborative atmosphere within the office.
2023
In May, I was so excited to welcome numerous colleagues from around the global as the ISPOR International Conference took place just down the street from our office. Not only was it a fantastic congress where I had the chance to connect with new and existing clients, it was also an ideal opportunity to show people around my new home!
This was also the year that I completed a Master’s in Economic Evaluation for Health Technology Assessment from the University of York, which had been funded by the company.
Towards the end of the year, I was promoted to US Head of Market Access and Health Economics. In my new division head role, I have ultimate responsibility for our US Market Access and Health Economics team and the work that we deliver. As we continue to grow, I am really looking forward to see what 2024, and beyond, will have in store for us!
