Vivian graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2011 with a first class MSci degree, specialising in Biochemistry. In 2009 she represented Cambridge in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition alongside eight other undergraduates; their project designing a bacterial chemical biosensor with colour output won the Overall Grand Prize and Best Environmental project. In 2015, Vivian completed a PhD in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease at the Institute of Metabolic Science in Cambridge. Her research focus was understanding how the paracrine activity of factors produced by brown adipose tissue regulates the plasticity of the local vascular and nervous networks.
The translational implications of her doctoral research prompted Vivian to aim to achieve a more direct impact on healthcare and patient wellbeing. Her subsequent role at a medical communications agency enabled her to gain experience with project management, market access activities, health economic modelling and organising meetings. She pursued a growing interest in health technology assessment by attending the ISPOR HTA training programme in 2016. Having joined Costello Medical in January 2017, Vivian is looking forward to developing her skills further by undertaking a variety of projects as part of the team.
