Ricardo graduated in Microbiology and Genetics from the University of Lisbon in 2007, followed by a PhD in Virology at the University of Cambridge. After graduating in 2012, Ricardo continued his research on the molecular mechanisms of viral host entry as a post-doctoral scientist. Throughout his research career, Ricardo was the lead author on several peer-reviewed research papers and presented his findings at numerous international conferences.
Ricardo joined Costello Medical as a Medical Writer in September 2014. In his current role as Principal Medical Writer, he is responsible for delivering a wide range of publication projects, including manuscripts, meeting reports, congress abstracts and posters. In addition, Ricardo has led the development of multiple e-learning training programmes and has provided scientific support at medical education events, including international CME-accredited conferences. He is currently interested in real-world evidence and its potential to transform and improve healthcare policy.
Ricardo is a member of the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA) and has recently gained an EMWA Professional Development Programme (EPDP) Foundation Certificate in Medical Writing.
