Ricardo joined Costello Medical as a Medical Writer in September 2014. Since joining the company, Ricardo has worked on a variety of publications and medical affairs projects covering a wide range of disease areas, including rheumatology, haematology and Alzheimer’s disease. His role focuses on the development of manuscripts, congress abstracts and posters. In addition, Ricardo has developed multiple training materials and provided scientific support in CME-accredited medical education events. Ricardo particularly enjoys being part of such a collaborative and enthusiastic team at Costello Medical, and hopes to contribute with his work in medical communications to the advancement of clinical research and human health.
Ricardo graduated in Microbiology and Genetics from the University of Lisbon in 2007, followed by a PhD in Virology at the University of Cambridge. After graduating in 2012, Ricardo continued his research on the molecular mechanisms of viral host entry as a post-doctoral scientist. Throughout his research career, Ricardo was lead author on several peer-reviewed research papers and presented his findings at numerous international conferences.
To further improve his scientific knowledge and writing skills, Ricardo is currently studying towards the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA) Professional Development Programme and the Clinical Trials Postgraduate Certificate at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
