Farzana completed her MSc at University College London in Cancer, for which she received an overall Distinction award. Her research project involved identifying changes in chromatin state induced by ETV6-RUNX1 in childhood ALL. This was carried out within the Bill Lyons Informatics Centre, where she worked on using ChIP-seq data to generate a segmentation pattern of chromatin states implementing a software called ChromHMM.
Prior to this she completed a BSc in Biomedical Science from Brunel University, where she achieved a first-class honours degree. Her final year project was laboratory based and entailed looking at the viability of Escherichia coli cells with rnhA and recJ mutation. Having gained some laboratory experience between her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, she was keen to learn more about the regulatory aspect of drug development, an interest which was piqued during her MSc course.
Farzana joined Costello Medical in February 2018 as a Project Assistant in the HTA and Health Economics Division. Interested in bridging the gap between science and business, she looks forward to applying her scientific knowledge and organisational skills across a wide range of projects.
