Emma graduated from the University of Warwick in 2013 with an upper second class degree in Biomedical Chemistry. She first joined Costello Medical as a Scientific Intern in the summer of 2013 before completing her doctorate in Pathology at the University of Cambridge. During her PhD, she focused on elucidating epigenetic mechanisms that regulate the transcription of integrated high-risk human papillomaviruses (HPV) genomes in cervical carcinoma. The findings of her research were published in two peer-reviewed scientific journals and delivered as posters and oral presentations at national conferences. Whilst at Cambridge, Emma also enjoyed being involved in outreach projects highlighting the importance of women in STEM.
Motivated to work within the healthcare industry, Emma was delighted to return to Costello Medical in April 2017. She is looking forward to applying her scientific knowledge to a wide range of projects in her role as a Cross-Divisional Analyst based in the Evidence Development Division.
