During her time at Costello Medical, Nia has experienced and managed a wide variety of projects across the diverse service offerings of the company, but in recent years has chosen to specialise in the delivery of medical affairs projects. Given her passion for supporting clients in the effective communication about the ‘science behind the product’, Nia formalised a dedicated Medical Affairs Division in 2014 to better draw-upon and promote the wealth of experience and knowledge held by the team in this field.
Nia is delighted to be part of such a motivated and professional team at Costello Medical, which has grown from strength to strength due to the company’s emphasis on recruiting high calibre individuals who are able to deliver successful projects with exceptional customer service. Looking ahead, Nia is excited to lead the Medical Affairs Division in creating new growth opportunities for the company in this area.
Nia graduated from the University of Oxford in 2009 with a first class honours BA in Biological Sciences, and since joining Costello Medical in 2010, achieved a distinction and best examination performance in the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Economics at the University of York.

As a Consultant within the Medical Affairs division, Laura is involved in the planning, management and final delivery of a broad range of projects across several disease areas. Recently, her project work has included advisory boards, value dossiers, congress support and medical education events. Laura enjoys both the variety of the projects undertaken by Costello Medical and the diversity of her responsibilities. For instance, alongside her project management responsibilities, Laura is involved in company training, ensuring that Costello Medical’s reputation for high quality standards is maintained. In pursuing other opportunities within the company, Laura has also conducted original research on the implementation of NICE guidance in clinical practice, which she presented at ISPOR’s 18th Annual International Meeting held in New Orleans in 2013.
Laura was awarded a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Cambridge in 2012, where her research focused on the molecular mechanisms underpinning the infection and transmission profiles of the hospital pathogen Clostridium difficile. Prior to this, Laura received a first class honours degree from the University of Nottingham, specialising in infectious diseases.
Laura is looking forward to making a creative contribution as a Consultant within the growing and talented Medical Affairs Team at Costello Medical.

Zoe joined Costello Medical in 2013 and since that time has grown her knowledge and expertise in a wide range of Medical Affairs service offerings. Her particular passions include the support of congress activities, medical education events and development of medical training materials. Within the division, Zoe values the long-term client relationships she has had the opportunity to build since joining the company, which enable her to bring a strategic approach, ensuring that project objectives are fully realised. Zoe has worked on a variety of projects in disease areas such as immunology, cancer and inflammatory bowel disease and continues to enjoy keeping up to date with new developments in all the therapy areas in which she works.
Outside of her project work, Zoe enjoys her recruitment and line manager responsibilities, where she takes particular pride in training her colleagues and supporting them with their long-term career ambitions within the company.
Before joining Costello Medical, Zoe graduated with a first class degree in Biology from Imperial College London in 2012. Zoe then continued her studies at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where she studied for a Masters degree in Medical Parasitology. Whilst at Costello Medical, Zoe has also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Economics for Health Care Professionals from the University of York.

Katie has a broad range of experience, particularly in the areas of oncology, immunology and neurology. As a Consultant, she oversees a number of projects and enjoys working closely with her clients and colleagues to provide a comprehensive, high quality service to fully achieve strategic objectives. Within the Medical Affairs Division, Katie specialises in the provision of advisory board and congress support, and the development of educational materials for healthcare professionals and patients. She has a particular interest in the ways that industry and patients can work together to improve health outcomes and is leading an internal initiative to explore how Costello Medical can best support its clients in this important area.
Aside from her medical affairs work, Katie leads the internship programme. She has presented several pieces of original research at international conferences and has completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Health Economics for Health Care Professionals at the University of York.
Before joining Costello Medical, Katie graduated from the University of Cambridge in June 2013 with an upper second class BA in Biological Natural Sciences. She values the emphasis on both exceptional customer service and employee welfare at Costello Medical.

Since joining Costello Medical in the middle of 2015, Matt has gained experience in a number of disease areas, including rheumatology and haemophilia. He has worked on a variety of medical affairs and market access projects, such as medical education materials and events, and has provided scientific support for satellite symposia.
Matt graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2011 with a first class BA in Natural Sciences, specialising in Biochemistry. During this time, he conducted research on sleeping sickness as a summer research fellow at the Rockefeller University, as well as investigating the role of collagen in blood clotting as part of his final year dissertation. In 2015, Matt completed his PhD at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, where his research focus was the molecular mechanism of bacterial cell division.
Matt particularly enjoys the scientific variety and client-oriented aspects of his role, and is excited to have the opportunity to continue to apply and develop his skills through undertaking a broad range of projects as part of the Costello Medical team.

As a Project Consultant in the Medical Affairs Division, Rebecca has worked on a broad range of projects, including medical education materials and events, global advisory boards, value dossiers and HTA submissions. Outside of her client responsibilities, Rebecca is involved in driving forward the Global Health Internship scheme and has completed the ‘Health Economics for Health Care Professionals’ Postgraduate Certificate at the University of York.
Prior to joining Costello Medical in January 2013, Rebecca graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2010 with upper second class BA and MSci degrees in Natural Sciences, specialising in Biochemistry. After graduating, she worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge, where she investigated the mechanisms leading to neurodegenerative diseases.
Rebecca looks forward to applying her knowledge and experience to a variety of projects across different disease areas as the Medical Affairs Division continues to grow, and to working with the professional and supportive team at Costello Medical.

Charlie joined Costello Medical in September 2016 after completing her PhD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Oxford, where her research focussed on exploiting metabolic pathways to optimise ovarian cancer treatment. Prior to this, Charlie received her BSc in Biochemistry from Cardiff University, during which she spent a year working in the Centre of Excellence for Drug Discovery at GlaxoSmithKline. Throughout her time in research, Charlie published a number of peer-reviewed publications, and presented her work at national and international conferences.
As a Senior Analyst in the Medical Affairs Division, Charlie has successfully supported a diverse range of projects including scientific symposia, advisory boards, steering committees, webinars, eLearning modules, and a variety of materials for internal and external use by medical and commercial teams. She has experience in several disease areas, including rheumatology, haematology, oncology and neurology, and has a particular interest in providing long-term scientific and strategic medical affairs support. She is delighted to be part of such an experienced and enthusiastic team working towards the shared goal of improving healthcare and the lives of others.

Chibuzor joined Costello Medical in September 2016 after working as a postdoctoral research fellow in nanotherapeutics at Oklahoma State University, USA. Prior to this, Chibuzor completed his PhD at the University of Birmingham, UK, during which he developed a novel 3D hepatocyte culture model for the prediction of drug metabolism in fish; he also holds an MSc in Toxicology and a BSc in Biological Sciences.
Throughout his academic career, Chibuzor has had a keen interest in communicating science to a wide range of audiences and his experience in this area ranges from working as a Science, Technology and Engineering Ambassador on public engagement and educational outreach programmes, to presenting his research at a number of national and international conferences. During his PhD, Chibuzor won a science policy scholarship to work as a researcher at the National Assembly for Wales; a role in which he produced briefings and guidance to politicians on health related matters.
Chibuzor is looking forward to applying his knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and passion for science communication to the wide range of projects in Costello Medical’s portfolio.

Since joining Costello Medical in September 2016, Sophie has gained experience across multiple disease areas, such as rheumatology and neurology, and has also developed an interest in drug delivery and surgical devices. Through her work with the Medical Affairs Division, she has worked on a variety of medical and market access deliverables, including global value dossiers, eLearning modules, and support for international advisory boards.
Sophie graduated from Durham University in 2015 with a first class degree in Biological Sciences, and subsequently completed a Masters in Integrated Immunology at the University of Oxford. During her studies, she performed research projects at the University of São Paulo in Brazil and the Jenner Institute in Oxford, focusing on the development of viral vectored vaccines for emerging pathogens. Sophie also developed an interest in public health whilst at Oxford and became involved with the student-led global health think tank, Polygeia, for which she was an editor for a project on the cost-effectiveness of the breast cancer screening programme.

Eleanor graduated from the University of Bristol in 2013 with an upper second class degree in Cancer Biology and Immunology. Between her second and third year, she was awarded funding from Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI to carry out a 2-month project at Queen’s University Belfast investigating combinational therapies in the treatment of leukaemia. Motivated by a long-standing passion for translational research into early detection of cancer, Eleanor embarked on a PhD at the University of Cambridge investigating early detection of oesophageal adenocarcinoma. Specifically, the use of somatic chromosomal alterations in the progression to cancer from the pre-malignant lesion, Barrett’s oesophagus. She particularly enjoyed the patient-centred nature of her project, the many and varied opportunities to communicate her research at national and international conferences as well as getting involved with numerous public engagement events.
Eleanor joined Costello Medical in September 2017 as an Analyst in the Medical Affairs Division. She is excited to be part of such a dynamic team and looks forward to the opportunity of using her analytical and technical expertise in a variety of projects as part of the Medical Affairs team.

Sarah graduated from the University of Sheffield in June 2014 with an upper second class Masters degree in Biology. In her final year, she investigated the effect of population size changes on levels of X-linked and autosomal diversity in D. melanogaster using a computer model. With an interest in healthcare and the desire to use her scientific background in a more commercial setting, Sarah was delighted to join the company in January 2016 as a Project Coordinator within the Costello Medical Affairs Division.
In her current role as a Senior Project Coordinator, Sarah uses her strong organisational and customer service skills to manage a wide range of tasks that support both the division and the delivery of high quality projects. She looks forward to playing a key role in further developing the Medical Affairs Division as it continues to grow.

Shahad graduated from King’s College London in 2016 with a first class Masters degree in Pharmacy. During her time at university, Shahad completed her laboratory-based dissertation abroad at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. Her research focused on investigating novel scientific methods for the production and purification of an anticancer agent. Shahad then went on to complete her professional training at King’s College Hospital where she successfully qualified as a pharmacist and conducted an independent audit on intravenous insulin which was later shortlisted for regional presentation.
Fuelled by a passion for healthcare and an eagerness to learn about the commercial side of the pharmaceutical industry, Shahad joined the company as a Cross-Divisional Analyst in September 2017. Having been a healthcare provider, she looks forward to applying her clinical knowledge to the exciting patient-focused projects Costello Medical has to offer.

Helen graduated from the University of Bath in 2017 with an upper second class degree in Biochemistry. During her degree she undertook a placement year, where she worked as a microscopist. Here she analysed foreign bodies found in food and drink products using a variety of techniques including compound and electron microscopy and FT-IR spectroscopy, as well as writing technical reports summarising these analyses. In her final year, Helen took on a STEM ambassador role as part of her dissertation in order to investigate the effectiveness of near-peer tutoring to A level Biology students.
With a desire to benefit healthcare whilst furthering her scientific knowledge, Helen joined Costello Medical in January 2018. She is looking forward to working on a variety of projects and disease areas in order to communicate scientific information to diverse audiences.

Laura joined the Operations Division in September 2013 during an important time of rapid growth. Since then she has seen the team double in size and has played a key role in training, mentoring and managing junior members of the team ensuring the efficient completion and high quality of work carried out by the Operations Division.
As a Senior Events Coordinator, Laura’s time is split between Operations and Medical Affairs. Laura’s Operations responsibilities include overseeing company-wide travel planning, managing Operations budgets, planning for the division along with the rest of the Operations Senior Team, and ensuring that the division’s processes are documented and maintained as the company continues to grow. Laura is also responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the office alongside the Senior Facilities Coordinator, and for ensuring that we fulfil one of our core company values: Fun.
Laura passed her Event Management Diploma in Marketing and Communications, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), in July 2015 with the Event Academy in London (formerly Ashdown Academy). Since then she has played an instrumental role in expanding our Medical Affairs service offerings to include logistics and event support; building an internal team and delivering a number of successful events.
Laura enjoys the variety her role brings and is delighted to be part of a thriving and vibrant organisation that is committed to high quality. She is excited to continue expanding our event management service offering over the coming months, embracing the challenges this will bring.

Belina graduated from the University of York in 2014 with a degree in Chemistry and completed her Masters by research in Bio-organic Chemistry in 2015. Her research focused on synthesising and investigating peptide-antibiotic conjugates as novel developments for increased microbial transport and efficiency.
After graduating, Belina worked at Novartis as a Franchise Assistant providing support on a variety of medical affairs and marketing projects. Her interest in science and clinical studies motivated her to join the clinical trials team where she was involved in the general set-up of immunology and dermatology studies.
Belina joined Costello Medical in April 2017 as a Project Coordinator before progressing to the role of Analyst in October 2018. Having worked across different teams within the pharmaceutical industry, she is looking forward to applying her experience and knowledge to support both the Medical Affairs and Evidence Development Divisions on a wide range of projects.

Daniel graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2018 with a first class honours degree and an upper second class Master’s degree in Natural Sciences, specialising in Biochemistry. As part of his Master’s degree, he completed a 17-week research project investigating the post-translational processing of a transcription factor in the Wnt signalling pathway thought to be relevant to the development of colorectal cancer. He also developed an interest in the provision of mental health support through his work with Student Minds Cambridge.
Daniel joined Costello Medical as an Analyst in the Medical Affairs Division in September 2018. He is keen to utilise his scientific training and knowledge in a way that benefits the wider community and is looking forward to contributing to a wide range of both projects and internal initiatives.

Joe graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2014 with first class BA and MSci degrees in Natural Sciences, specialising in Chemistry. His main interests during undergraduate study were organic and biological chemistry and his final year project involved fluorescent labelling of proteins in microfluidic devices. Joe went on to undertake a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry as part of the GSK/University of Strathclyde collaborative scheme. Based at GSK’s R&D site, Joe’s research focused on the design and synthesis of a series of small molecules with a high degree of 3D character for the inhibition an epigenetic protein target.
Joe joined Costello Medical as an Analyst in September 2018. Having spent time working alongside scientists at the cutting edge of pharmaceutical research, Joe has gained an appreciation of how difficult it is to develop potential new drugs and how much time, effort and ingenuity it takes to reach a molecule of the required quality to enter clinical trials. He now wants to take the skills and knowledge he acquired during his PhD and apply them to the processes that ensure that the medicines that have succeeded through the arduous hurdles of the drug development process go on to achieve their full potential and help as many patients as possible.

Tiffany completed her PhD in Molecular Cell Biology at the University of East Anglia where she focused her research on the investigation of WWP2 Ubiquitin Ligase isoforms in TGFβ-dependent oncogenic signalling. During her postgraduate studies, she participated in the iTeams programme where she carried out market research and analysis on a novel Health Economic tool. Prior to this, Tiffany graduated with a first class honours degree in Biomedicine at the same institution. Throughout her time in higher education, Tiffany has developed an active interest in science communication.
Tiffany joined Costello Medical in January 2018 as a Project Assistant in the Medical Affairs Division. Interested in bridging the gap between science and business, she looks forward to applying her scientific knowledge to a wide range of projects.

Elia graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2016 with an upper second class honours degree in Immunology and Pharmacology (Bio-business). For her final year research project, she conducted a pharmacological investigation of novel combination therapies in the treatment of prostate cancer. She then continued her education at Imperial College Business School where she completed an MSc degree in International Health Management. As part of her postgraduate programme, Elia worked on a pricing and market access consulting project with Precision for Value where she conducted comprehensive primary and secondary research on ALK+ non-small cell lung cancer. She also has previous experience as a multidisciplinary summer intern at Novo Nordisk.
Driven by the desire to incorporate her extensive scientific knowledge into a business context, Elia joined the Medical Affairs Division at Costello Medical as a Project Assistant in July 2018.
