Richard Short is co-founder of Costello Medical and Director of Finance and Operations. He is responsible for the financial oversight of all group companies and strategic planning both in the UK and internationally. He feels privileged to work alongside so many talented individuals and enjoys seeking new ways to unlock their potential, the creative force behind Costello Medical’s rapidly expanding technical expertise and geographical reach.
After completing a Masters degree in Classics at the University of Oxford, Richard went on to Harvard University for a PhD in Roman history. In between, he gained experience working in asset management at Insight Investment (formerly Clerical Medical), where he served on the alternative investments team and specialised in venture capital, private equity and hedge funds.

Within the Operations Division at Costello Medical, Laura is responsible for company-wide resource planning, recruitment, and internal and external training, to ensure that the company’s high quality standards and core values are maintained during the current period of rapid growth. Her position as Head of Finance and Operations also includes financial and HR responsibilities, as well as the provision of strategic input on the company’s development.
Since joining Costello Medical in 2010, Laura has gained experience leading a variety of client projects including HTA submissions, economic tools, systematic literature reviews and advisory boards. She enjoys combining her knowledge of Costello Medical’s service offerings with her organisational and managerial skills in her role as Head of Finance and Operations. Laura particularly relishes the opportunity to work within such a talented team, and to oversee new innovative initiatives that will contribute to the development of the company as a whole, and all individuals within it.
Laura is currently studying towards an MBA by distance learning at the Warwick Business School and looks forward to applying her gained knowledge to the benefit of Costello Medical. She previously graduated from the University of Cambridge with a first class honours MPhil in Computational Biology, and from the University of York with a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Economics with distinction.

Michael joined Costello Medical as Company Accountant in July 2016 with the aim of further developing the finance function in order to support the ongoing growth of the business.
Having gained a degree in Law from the University of Cambridge he then spent 12 years working within an accountancy practice, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor, prior to moving into direct roles within businesses. He has experience of working with companies across a wide range of sectors and brings a broad knowledge of accounts and finance to the Costello Medical team.
Michael enjoys using his expertise to support the development of businesses and looks forward to working with the talented team at Costello Medical in further developing and growing the company.

As HR Manager, Sophie supports the global Costello Medical team and has responsibility for delivering a wide range of HR and recruitment processes, including payroll and benefits administration, the performance review process, and other internal activities such as the annual employee survey. Creating continuing learning and development opportunities for all staff is central to Costello Medical’s commitment to delivering high quality work, and Sophie helps to coordinate and plan training activities across the company.
Sophie graduated from the University of Leeds in June 2011 with an upper second class BA in Cultural Studies. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management awarded by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and is an Associate Member of this organisation. Before joining Costello Medical, Sophie worked as a recruitment specialist for leading software company Autonomy, prior to which she pursued an internship in the HR department of the World Conservation Monitoring Centre, a global conservation charity working in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme.
Senior Events Coordinator

As Senior Events Coordinator, Laura plays a key role in coordinating the administrative support provided by the Operations Division to the rest of the company. She is responsible for ensuring the efficient completion and high quality of work carried out by the Operations Division, including the provision of guidance and appropriate training to Office Administrators. Laura’s role is broad, encompassing office administration, client project and secretarial support, facilities, recruitment, and other activities that contribute to the company’s smooth and successful operation.
Laura is excited to be undertaking an Event Management Diploma, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), at King’s College London in 2015. This will support her ambition of focusing on logistics and event management and expanding the service offerings of Costello Medical in this area.
Before joining Costello Medical in September 2013, Laura worked as a Team Leader for the leading global provider of medical equipment in the infection control industry, Getinge. She is delighted to be part of a successful and vibrant organisation that is committed to high quality, and is very much looking forward to being part of Costello Medical’s bright future.
Senior Facilities Coordinator

Since joining the company in 2013, Paul has taken on the day-to-day management of the office facilities at Costello Medical, working closely with suppliers and contractors to provide a first class service to his colleagues in order to ensure that the office runs smoothly and efficiently.
Paul is currently studying towards the Level 3 Certificate in Facilities Management, accredited by the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM), and enjoys putting his newly learnt knowledge to practice in his role.
Aside from his work in facilities, Paul is also responsible for IT support, alongside the company’s external support provider. This is a challenging part of Paul’s role, but one that he enjoys a great deal, despite being disappointed to learn that restarting a laptop really does resolve a large majority of IT issues!
Prior to joining the company, Paul worked for organisations in the office fit-out and refurbishment and pharmaceutical industries. He is delighted to be able to combine his knowledge and experience in both areas at Costello Medical.
Senior Accounts Assistant

Basia joined Costello Medical in February 2016 and has since taken on a number of finance and accounting responsibilities in the Operations Division. Basia is an experienced accounts professional and an AAT fully qualified Accounts Technician. She has 8 years of accounting experience working for both large and small organisations in corporate and non-for-profit environments. Her knowledge covers a wide range of topics including financial compliance, audit and internal controls. She takes particular interest in problem-solving and the implementation of new procedures to improve internal processes, increase time-effectiveness and efficiency.
Having gained a Diploma in Education in 1999, she is now devoting her spare time to completing a degree in International Studies with the Open University.
Basia is very excited to bring her accounting knowledge and expertise to benefit Costello Medical and work towards improving the accounting functions of the company.

Aaron joined Costello Medical’s Operations Team as an Accounts Assistant in November 2016, to assist with the day-to-day financial administration of the company, including the purchase ledger, sales ledger, staff expenses and credit card reconciliations for both the UK and Singapore offices.
Aaron graduated from Anglia Ruskin University in June 2016, achieving a first class degree in Accounting and Finance. This is his first full-time accounting role having previously gained accounting experience in a temporary role for Arrow ECS, and part-time for the Stephen Perse Foundation. Aaron is continuing with his studies with the aim to complete his ACCA qualification to become a Chartered Accountant.
Aaron has worked in a number of different industries, starting off at the Cambridge News. He has also worked within gaming, horse racing, insurance, hotel accommodation, IT, and education, and is thoroughly looking forward to working in the medical field.

Emma joined Costello Medical in February 2016 and in her role as HR Administrator she supports the HR and recruitment functions for both the Cambridge and Singapore offices.
Alongside these duties, Emma also works with the wider Operations Division to provide general administrative and project support to the scientific teams. Having completed A Levels in Biology, Psychology and English Language, Emma is now looking forward to continuing to study and will be working towards a Human Resources qualification accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Emma is excited to be contributing to the continued growth of the company through her work in recruitment.

Kersha joined the company in January 2017 as Operations Administrator. In this role Kersha provides administrative support to the Operations Division and the scientific teams.
Before joining Costello Medical Kersha worked in Cambridge as a Property Manager for a lettings agent, a role which spanned five years and saw her achieve her ARLA qualification in Property Management. Kersha is now keen to apply her strong organisational and customer service skills to the role to ensure the smooth running of the company. She is very excited to be working as part of the Operations Division here at Costello Medical.

Rashmi joined Costello Medical in July 2016 as an Accounts Apprentice, with the aim of developing her career and gaining experience in the accounts industry.
As an Accounts Apprentice for Costello Medical, she works on several financial tasks such as creating expense forms, checking invoices and submitting financial documents to clients. Alongside this, she also assists with general administrative work, such as inputting data and keeping internal spreadsheets up to date. Having completed her GCSEs, she is commencing her studies in September 2016, working towards an AAT qualification.
Rashmi is excited to be part of the Finance team and hopes to contribute to the company’s growth through applying her knowledge in accounts.
Office and Finance Administrator

Jenny joined Costello Medical Singapore as an Office and Finance Administrator in June 2014. She has played a key role in supporting the growth of the Singapore office, by providing support in developing the office management and financial administration processes of the company.
Prior to joining Costello Medical Singapore, Jenny gained extensive experience in office administration in previous roles, including 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry at Janssen Cilag in Singapore. She is excited to resume work in the pharmaceutical industry, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience required to provide strong support to the team in Singapore.

Kirby joined Costello Medical in September 2016 as the Personal Assistant to both the Head of Finance and Operations and the Scientific Director. In this role Kirby provides a high level of support to both members of the senior team by completing administrative tasks, overseeing diary management and organising personal logistics.
Before working at Costello Medical Kirby was a receptionist for just under two years at one of the leading chemistry charities. She looks forward to applying her strong organisational and interpersonal skills to the role of Personal Assistant, as well as providing wider support to the company as a member of the Operations Division.

Imogen was awarded a first class honours for her BA in Human Resource Management following on from earlier consistent high achievements in her academic career. Throughout her degree she broadened her knowledge on an expansive range of business related issues including finance and marketing, as well as more specifically focusing on conducting business in an international environment, law, performance and reward management and business psychology within the HR realm.
Prior to joining Costello Medical, she spent almost seven years at a prestigious UK based publisher whose B2B publications spanned across sectors including pharmaceuticals, transport and foreign exchange. Here, she worked on the events side of the business and went on to manage the sales team for almost four years. In this position she was driving event attendance and liaising daily with leading industry figures to ensure an international schedule of events was delivered to the highest standards.
Imogen is the first Personal Assistant at Costello Medical and provides a high level of support to the Head of Publications, Head of Finance and Operations and Scientific Director. She is very excited to be working in a company as dynamic, rapidly expanding and friendly as Costello Medical and is thrilled that she is continuing to work in the publications and events arena which she is particularly adept in and passionate about. She is very happy to be part of the Costello team!
