Since joining Costello Medical, Saoirse has worked on a wide variety of projects across the company’s service offerings, including medical affairs, HTA and publications projects. However, her particular area of expertise is in the design and execution of systematic and targeted literature reviews, both in support of HTA submissions and on more epidemiological subjects. It is her passion for these types of project that led her to establish the Evidence Development Division at Costello Medical in 2015, supported by a talented team of experienced and like-minded individuals.
In her role leading the Evidence Development Division, Saoirse is keen to establish a reputation for delivering high quality projects that are conducted rigorously and efficiently with the client’s strategic objectives in mind. She particularly enjoys providing her clients with strategic advice on best practice in the area of literature reviewing. Next to her work in the Evidence Development Division, Saoirse is actively involved in recruitment, co-managing Costello Medical’s Internship Programme.
Saoirse has a first class honours degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, a Distinction in her Masters from the Royal Veterinary College, London, and a Postgraduate Certificate in “Health Economics for Health Care Professionals” from the University of York.

As a Consultant within the Evidence Development Division at Costello Medical, Sara has been involved with several literature review and strategic evidence searching projects including disease area reviews, competitor landscaping and gap analysis activities. Having also worked on systematic literature reviews, Sara is particularly interested in developing strategies for balancing the thoroughness of systematic reviews with the advantages of more targeted approaches, such as the capacity for swifter delivery of results.
Outside of the Evidence Development Division, Sara also has experience of preparing HTA submissions for NICE, SMC and NCPE, and in developing health economic manuscripts. Sara completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Health Economics for Health Care Professionals at the University of York in 2014.
Sara graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2012 with an upper second class degree in Biological Natural Sciences, specialising in Physiology, Development and Neuroscience.

Amy joined Costello Medical as a Public Health Intern in June 2014, and was delighted to transition to a permanent role following the successful completion of her internship. After gaining experience of a wide range of project types offered by the company, she developed a keen interest in systematic reviews and strategic evidence searches, and is very excited to be a founding member of the specialised Evidence Development Team. She particularly enjoys working on reviews of complex topics such as the adverse events associated with substance misuse or non-pharmaceutical interventions in mental health, and is committed to maintaining and developing Costello Medical’s reputation for producing the highest quality work in this area.
Alongside her project work for clients, Amy is actively involved in business development at Costello Medical, with a particular focus on expanding the company’s Public Health service offerings. She is also a member of the recruitment team, and has worked on developing Costello Medical’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
Prior to joining Costello Medical, Amy graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2012 with an upper second class MSci and BA in Natural Sciences, specialising in Biochemistry. After graduating she spent a year in Uganda as the manager of an educational Mobile Science Laboratory that she established, and she continues to lead the charity in her spare time.

Jenni graduated from the University of Warwick in 2011 with an upper second class honours degree in Biomedical Science. She then went on to study for a PhD in Biological Sciences with the same institution. Her research focused on the immunogenicity of the glycoprotein of rabies and the lyssaviruses, with the aim of developing a construct capable of pan-lyssavirus neutralisation.
She joined the company in April 2015 and is thrilled to be working in the Costello Medical team. She is particularly looking forward to applying her scientific skills to a new range of diseases.

Anna graduated from Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany, with a BSc in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. She then obtained an MSc in Molecular Biology at the International Max Planck Research School in Göttingen, where her thesis research focused on finding kinases and phosphatases with novel neuronal functions in C. elegans. In her PhD at King’s College London, Anna worked on target validation of tubulin deacetylases in Huntington’s disease. To expand her academic horizons, she undertook postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where she worked on RNA editing in psychiatric disorders, and then at Northwestern University, where she investigated how nutrition regulates microRNA biogenesis. Prior to joining the Costello Medical team and in search of new challenges, Anna decided to leave academia and move back to the UK to work as an Editorial Intern at the Journal of Cell Science, and as a freelance language editor.
Anna joined Costello Medical in April 2016 and she is excited to apply her knowledge of basic science, as well as academic and publishing experience, to a wide variety of projects and to contribute to the growth and development of the company.

Steph graduated in 2015 from Durham University with a first class Masters degree in Chemistry. She spent her final year working in drug discovery completing a project focused on the design and synthesis of protein lysine methyl transferase inhibitors for the treatment of cancer.
Steph completed a Scientific Internship at Costello Medical at the start of 2016. This role cemented her enthusiasm to work within the healthcare industry and she was delighted to return to the company in September 2016 as an Analyst. During her time at Costello Medical she has worked on a diverse range of projects across different divisions, and she particularly enjoys developing her knowledge across a variety of therapeutic areas. Steph is excited to apply her scientific knowledge to support the delivery of high quality projects and is looking forward to working alongside the talented team at Costello Medical as it continues to grow.

Emma graduated from the University of Warwick in 2013 with an upper second class degree in Biomedical Chemistry. She first joined Costello Medical as a Scientific Intern in the summer of 2013 before completing her doctorate in Pathology at the University of Cambridge. During her PhD, she focused on elucidating epigenetic mechanisms that regulate the transcription of integrated high-risk human papillomaviruses (HPV) genomes in cervical carcinoma. The findings of her research were published in two peer-reviewed scientific journals and delivered as posters and oral presentations at national conferences. Whilst at Cambridge, Emma also enjoyed being involved in outreach projects highlighting the importance of women in STEM.
Motivated to work within the healthcare industry, Emma was delighted to return to Costello Medical in April 2017. She is looking forward to applying her scientific knowledge to a wide range of projects in her role as a Cross-Divisional Analyst based in the Evidence Development Division.

Eleanor joined Costello Medical as a Project Assistant in July 2016. Prior to this she worked for a non-governmental organisation in the international development sector and at Cambridge University Press.
Within the Evidence Development Division, Eleanor works on a diverse range of projects including systematic reviews, rapid reviews and economic models. She particularly enjoys developing her knowledge across a variety of therapeutic areas and using her strong research and organisational skills to support the delivery of high quality projects. Eleanor thoroughly enjoys working alongside the talented team at Costello Medical and is excited to contribute to the growth and development of the company.
Eleanor received her undergraduate degree from the University of Sheffield and her MA in Social Anthropology of Development from SOAS, University of London. In her postgraduate studies she specialised in East Africa, medical anthropology and international health policy, inspired by her time spent volunteering in Kenya. She maintains a keen interest in global health issues and how illness is understood, and treated, in different cultures.

Jessica graduated from the Open University in 2014 with an upper second class degree in Biology and Health. Her degree included studies into cancers, autoimmune diseases and infectious diseases, with her dissertation on bovine tuberculosis.
Since graduating she has worked in a number of laboratory-based posts, including at the Clinical Microbiology and Public Health Laboratory at Addenbrooke’s hospital.
She joined the company in July 2016 and is thrilled to be working for Costello Medical. She is particularly looking forward to using the knowledge gained working in a medical laboratory alongside her analysis and writing skills as part of the Evidence Development team.

Alex graduated from the University of York in 2014 with a first class Masters degree in Chemistry. After graduating, he moved to Cambridge to become a Publishing Editor at the Royal Society of Chemistry. Here, he worked on the general chemistry journal portfolio on the RSC’s flagship publications, including ChemComm, Chemical Science and Chemical Society Reviews, and was involved in many aspects of the editorial production process. He has also written for the RSC’s magazine, Chemistry World, and works as a sub-editor for the educational magazine Chemistry Review in his spare time.
Looking for a career change, Alex joined Costello Medical in April 2017 as a Project Assistant within the Evidence Development Division. He is eager to use the skills learned from his experience in the publishing sector to benefit the wider company and is delighted to be a member of the team.
