Before joining Costello Medical, Ben completed his PhD in Molecular Cell Biology at Queen Mary University London in 2016. During his postgraduate studies, he worked on the in vitro-modelling of rare skin disorders and the assessment of nanopolymer-based systems for transdermal drug delivery, with parts of his work having been published in peer-reviewed journals. Previous to this, he received a Master degree in Molecular Biotechnology from the University of Lübeck (Germany) while investigating the use of adult human stem cells in neural tissue engineering.
Interested in applying his knowledge of translational biosciences in a more commercial and varied setting, Ben joined Costello Medical in January 2017 as a Scientific Intern. He quickly developed a passion for the work in healthcare consulting and gladly accepted the opportunity to transition to a permanent position soon after. As an Analyst in the Rare Diseases division, he particularly enjoys being able to continuously learn about new aspects of Evidence Development and Health Technology Assessment, and to apply his expertise towards the challenges inherent to the field of rare diseases and orphan drug development.
