Anna graduated from Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany, with a BSc in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. She then obtained an MSc in Molecular Biology at the International Max Planck Research School in Göttingen, where her thesis research focused on finding kinases and phosphatases with novel neuronal functions in C. elegans. In her PhD at King’s College London, Anna worked on target validation of tubulin deacetylases in Huntington’s disease. To expand her academic horizons, she undertook postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where she worked on RNA editing in psychiatric disorders, and then at Northwestern University, where she investigated how nutrition regulates microRNA biogenesis. Prior to joining the Costello Medical team and in search of new challenges, Anna decided to leave academia and move back to the UK to work as an Editorial Intern at the Journal of Cell Science, and as a freelance language editor.
Anna joined Costello Medical in April 2016 and she is excited to apply her knowledge of basic science, as well as academic and publishing experience, to a wide variety of projects and to contribute to the growth and development of the company.
