What Our Medical Writers Do
This role is for talented individuals looking to use their scientific writing and creative skills in a more commercial environment.
Medical Writers work collaboratively in project teams with Senior Medical Writers and Publication Managers, typically being involved in a variety of projects spanning a range of disease areas. They work with clients and world-renowned opinion leaders to produce materials that communicate key scientific data to a wide audience. This includes abstracts and manuscripts, as well as posters and oral presentations for large international congresses. They provide ongoing publication support to clients, which calls for constant dedication to customer service and enables strong relationships to be built up with the healthcare professionals they support.
Following a successful induction period the role increasingly involves participation in teleconferences and face-to-face meetings with clients and key opinion leaders; the latter present opportunities for travel. Medical Writers work closely with more experienced staff, who provide one-to-one training on the technical aspects of the role, including good publication practice, strategic publication planning, project management and effective client communication.

This position is suitable for those looking for an entry-level position in medical communications as well as those with some prior experience. We are looking for ambitious individuals with the potential to progress rapidly into more senior roles involving greater project management and client responsibility.

What We Offer

What Background Should You Have?
We are looking for individuals who are collaborative, self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a positive attitude and passion for scientific writing.
Essential requirements for the role are:
- A degree level or higher qualification in a scientific discipline (minimum 2.1)
- Excellent written English
- A close attention to detail
- Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Organisational skills and the ability to work across multiple projects at the same time
- Aptitude for and experience of scientific writing which could include dissertations, research summaries, lab reports, poster or oral presentations, peer-reviewed scientific publications, book chapters, grant applications, regulatory documents, and articles for websites or student magazines
