Full Stack Developer – Cambridge

About the Role

As our first in-house Full Stack Developer you will be working closely with our designers and project managers to create engaging and interactive content for our clients. You will be involved in all stages of application/website development and maintenance, from initiation to completion. You will produce materials to high standards of clarity, presentation and innovation, and work closely with internal colleagues and clients to understand and deliver the project brief, providing technical insight and guidance where required.

You will be based in our Visual Communication team and will be working alongside designers who are looking to extend the range of digital deliverables we offer in-house. You should therefore be proactive with a willingness to learn and contribute innovative ideas towards the development of our service offerings.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • 3 years’ working experience with the following programming languages: HTML, CSS and JavaScript; Java, Python, C or C++; CMS platforms (particularly WordPress); database management
  • Experience developing applications for web/mobile, and knowledge of all stages of development
  • Knowledge of web standards, progressive enhancement and accessibility
  • Solid understanding of web security
  • Awareness of UI, UX, and responsive design
  • Enthusiasm for technology and high-quality development
  • A problem-solving mindset and eagerness to work both independently and collaboratively to find solutions
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Organisational skills and self-motivation

Additional knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or Sketch would be highly desirable but not essential. No previous experience in the scientific industry is required.
