What do we do?

We work with medical affairs and market access teams within pharmaceutical companies to assist them in preparing reports and presentations that communicate the clinical benefit of therapies to doctors and reimbursement agencies (such as NICE in the UK). Our projects are highly analytical and scientific in nature, requiring excellent writing skills and the capacity to interact with senior people in the pharmaceutical sector. The work that we undertake has a direct and measurable impact on the successful launch of novel therapies across a wide range of disease areas.

What do our Analysts do?

This position is for exceptional individuals looking to use the scientific and analytical skills acquired during their academic training in a more commercial environment. Analysts work on projects involving the detailed analysis of data from clinical trials and the assimilation and creative presentation of this analysis. These deliverables are used directly by pharmaceutical companies in communication with stakeholders instrumental to the successful uptake of novel therapies. The work is structured on a project by project basis with a typical duration of 2 to 3 months; Analysts will usually be working on several projects at any one time.

Following a successful induction period the role increasingly involves participation in teleconferences and face-to-face meetings with clients. Analysts work very closely with the directors and senior staff, who provide one-to-one training in the technical aspects of the role and on project management and effective communication with clients. The directors are looking for individuals with the potential to progress rapidly and who, with close mentoring, can take on a consultancy role involving project management and client responsibility within two to three years.

What background should
you have?

Applicants should have a degree level or higher qualification in a scientific discipline (minimum 2.1). In addition to excellent analytical skills, you should have experience in planning and writing scientific documents; fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint would be valuable. The ability to communicate scientific material clearly in both written and oral form is essential, as are organisation, self-motivation, and very close attention to detail. A very high level of written English is also essential. Although no previous experience is required, a genuine interest in healthcare and in continuing to learn about new areas of science is a must.
